Twist the mic, rock the house

So you have the "phono problem"? You don't know where to hook up your turntable in order to get the desired amplification? Don't rush to buy these expensive usb phono preamps. Windows will do the work. The only thing you need to do is to connect your deck with the mic input of your soundcard and turn on the "Mic Boost" option. You are done. Super high amplification and ok quality!

That did hurt..

Apple finally admitted that some Ipod Nanos have a flawed screen. That did hurt Apple's dominance and the superior quality culture. Ok, let's give the guys a break. It could happen to everyone, but they better be more careful to their slogans. Impossibly small/elegant fits better.

CNET's / Everyone's DreaMp3 player

It was there for a month apparently. However, i don't really like CNET so i came across it just now. The guys there designed the ultimate mp3 player anyone could ever think, based though on today's existing technology. For example, they used Bluetooth enabled headphones (Shure of course..), a touch OLED screen and a 100GB drive. The other idea they had, was to mount a second detachable tiny flash-based mp3 player inside the main unit.
The DreaMp3 player is really not a dream if we consider iRiver's U10 that just showed up. I guess that a year's time is enough for all these or at least for most of these. A must-read!

..and we loved Rio

In the next few days i am expecting the Rio Carbon Pearl i bought from eBay (..anti-iPod, yes). Great deal by the way! All about Rio taste sweet memories from now on. Rio was the first brand of mp3 players to make DAPs go popular (PMP300), at least to the computer freaks of that time. The functionality and the durability of the players was remarkable. I still use my Rio Volt SP250 mp3 cd player. It works just fine. More recently, Rio Karma got the best reviews and still has crazy fans.
So, i searched and found an old cd that came with a Diamond graphics card containing extended info for the new at that time (03/98) Rio PMP300. Here's the stuff

(omg! 32MB memory..! and the FAQs contain the burning question of that time: "What is MP3?")
